Theft Averted Thanks to CAPTOR

“All along my company has been an Allianz insurance customer. I have been fortunate as I have been given a CAPTOR Tracking & Recovery System which has been installed into my Toyota Fortuner just a few months ago.

This morning, I and my wife received a SMS message from CAPTOR stating that there was a violation in my car. Opening my upstairs window, I noticed a black car parked outside my house gate. I sensed something was wrong, so I went downstairs and out my house to the gate. There I noticed the black car ignition was on with a driver inside. Then I looked at my Fortuner and noticed a shadow in my car. I then shouted and immediately an unknown partner bolted out of my car and ran into the black car and sped away.

I am indeed fortunate and obligated to Allianz Insurance and CAPTOR for the early warning to save my car. Otherwise, I would have lost my car to the thieves. Thank you." – Mr. Tay Teow Boon

Case # 1175
Date Recovered: 19th AUGUST 2009
Insurance company: Allianz
Vehicle: Toyota Fortuner
Case Type: Attempted Theft

Allianz Programme a Success!

Mr. Mohammad’s Toyota Fortuner was saved by CAPTOR just days after his vehicle was installed under the CAPTOR Protection pilot program. Police investigations uncovered that the thieves managed to overcome the Fortuner's basic alarm but decided to abandon the vehicle when they realized the car was protected by CAPTOR.

While the owner was sleeping in his house in Ampang, the thieves cable-tied all his house doors. Mr. Mohammad only realized this when he found himself locked in his own house in the morning. The driver window of his Toyota Fortuner was found smashed, but nothing was taken from the car.

"I believe the thief realized my car was protected by CAPTOR and left it. Nothing in my car was stolen even though I installed accessories. The police investigated and found my car's alarm was by-passed and the CAPTOR anti-hijack button cut and left beside my car. The thief must have realized the car was CAPTOR protected and decided to leave it. I am thankful to Allianz and CAPTOR for this wonderful system and I am happy that I installed my car just in time." – Nordin Bin Mohammad

Tracking chip helps nab three hijackers

By Lee Shi-lan

Shah Alam: Three men thought they were home and dry after transferring a stolen consignment of cigarettes from a hijacked vehicle to their escape van.
But it turned out to be a futile move because a tracking chip had been embedded in one of the cigarette cartons as a precautionary measure. The hijacked vehicle also had a Global Positioning System installed.
In the 12.25pm incident on Thursday, a van driver and his assistant had stopped in front of a wholesale shop in Jalan Reko, Kajang, to deliver cigarettes.
As they were unloading the consignment, four men in a Toyota Estima pulled up next to them. Three of them alighted and overpowered the van driver and his assistant. The fourth man grabbed the van keys and drove off. The other three then got into their own vehicle and sped off.
The company (CAPTOR) managed to locate the hijacked van at 2pm, and a police team was dispatched to the area.
Unknown to the suspects, the company had placed a small tracking device inside one of the cigarette cartons.
Using the GPS system, the company kept the police informed on the movements of the stolen cigarettes.
About RM80,000 worth of cigarettes was recovered from the Toyota Estima, which is believed to be stolen.
